If I kill a big ant on my patio, a bunch of little ants appear and carry it away

“When I smash a big ant on my patio”
Uhhhh no, there was nothing left to carry away if you “smashed” it other than a little liquid spot on the cement. Try setting this up again.

I smash it with my finger and there is still plenty for the little ants to carry away.

Nutria problem solved yet? Rodents that burrow in a levy preventing water from inundating the neighborhoods 18 feet lower elevation, might be more on point?

Ants, when there is something that they can cart off for food, they are on it. Saw something strange. Heard a chewing noise and saw what looked like pencil shavings falling from a wooden beam at a picnic cover.
A large black wasp was making a raid on some other insect’s abode. Once it chewed a large enough opening, the wasp then kicked 6 grubs that had been in the lair to the ground.
It wasn’t 5 seconds before ants were on the grubs,(still alive), carting them off to their doom.
Nature, it’s brutal.

this worthless nonsense should be on Facebook instead of hereNo, no, no...you've got it all wrong. The OP is merely the vehicle for dozens of responses guaranteed for multiple belly laughs, which enhance the health of the reader.
IOW, Sam is doing a public service by starting this thread.
BTW, my ants are like the Dallas Cowboys: they haven't done squat in 25 years.

There’s an excellent Far Side cartoon of a bunch of ants carrying a baby and they’re met at the entrance of the nest by another ant who is yelling “You idiots! We’ll never get that thing down the hole!’’
