They have to consider the least risk to the most persons.

Okay. I will play along with your theory. And pose this question: So why do individual soldiers/sailors get to say “Gimme a d!ck”, “Gimme a veejay”? or “Gimme some breasts”?
///
Your “least risk to the most persons” standard is not going to be able to survive logic.

What in the h%$# are you talking about, and how in the h%$# does it relate to taking vaccines IN THE MILITARY.

The old one was running pushups and situps. The new one adds a bunch of stuff like deadlift, some sort of sprint, a medicine ball fling, and other odd things they probably got from CrossFit.

If the left csn do this with a virus vaccine.. if they had the medical field .. your doctor and/or your insurance...youd be told whether you live or die. Medical treatment could be denied..

In BCT back in '69 I was given all sorts of shots,in both arms, with those funky looking guns at Reception Center. I never questioned it and, unless I'm mistaken,I never consented to it.

Although I'm certainly no expert in military law it seems possible that the Commander has the authority to do this.

The difference is those vaccines were FDA approved and tested rigorously for years. This vaccine is being dispersed under Emergency Use Authorization and has only been tested for 6 months. Apples & oranges IMO.

I think there are a lot of things that are optional in civilian life that are not optional to active duty military. I think vaccines have long been one of those things.

However, given then science, if I were the DOD, I would not consider a vaccine as needed for any person who has recovered from a Covid-19 illness. Recent studies have shown their Convid-19 antibody count statistically equal to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and a little better than the J&J and Aztra Zenaca versions.

But yes, given the conditions of military living, I don’t think waiting for herd immunity inside the military is prudent.

But agian, they are not civilians.

I understand that difference. I can also see the military brass, given their responsibilities and priorities, not thinking it necessarily prudent to wait for regular FDA approval, at this point in time. If conditions, and any evidence comes along to change that, they are always able to change that position.

It’s Fake News.

“McGee said he and his staff are considering a range of options, including limited range of travel and increased reporting requirements for soldiers; however, no final decisions have been made as to restrictions.”

Not that you ‘must’ get vaccinated. In ‘67 we didn’t have a choice.

How many of the vaccines were experimental, developed in the previous year?

When I was in the Army, we lined up for all our mandatory shots in Basic, then when we deployed to Desert Storm, we got more. As far as I know, all were time-tested vaccines. There was one experimental vaccine they offered - I think it was for anthrax, and that WAS optional. Interestingly enough, my buddies and I said "hell no - we don't want some experimental vaccine." The more things change...

Wuli, the vaccine is OPTIONAL for military members. You think it is okay for a local commander to restrict a service member to base for not taking a vaccine that is OPTIONAL by DOD regulation? If it were mandatory then the service member would have no choice and would face disciplinary action under the UCMJ. This vaccine is experimental and OPTIONAL and the military members are facing disciplinary action without any process.

Those were approved and time tested vaccines, not experimental compounds.

All of the real combat soldiers ready for mobilization received vaccines that were less “experimental” than the COVID vaccines now in people for 14 months. But the vaccines worked, conspiracy theories and attempts to get free money for nonexistent problems notwithstanding.

As a former military I remember getting all kinds of vaccinations. They have to consider the least risk to the most persons.

The least risk to the most persons? OK, by that logic, given the the age ranges and above-average health of military personnel, the risk of dying or even having serious symptoms from this virus are virtually zero, whereas the risk of the vaccines, as we are gathering data, appears to be well above zero, for the effects THAT WE KNOW OF. In other words, virtually no military personnel should be taking any of the vaccines. Hell, over half of them probably already have anti-bodies to the virus anyway.
