Trump was hamstrung from the start because didn’t have the extensive network of political associates and seasoned bench of party cannon fodder that any usual presidential candidate would have. Look at Obama: he was able to fill his cabinet immediately with political and experienced government flunkies. GOP counterparts, who should have stepped up for Trump, were A-f’n-WOL..

One of the reasons I support DeSantis in 2024, is because he is a building a team in Florida he can bring with him.

The GOP, Cheney was one of many, that sabotaged Trump during his entire 4 years.

Rubio, Burr, Gowdy were claiming things in evidence that did not exist on Russia.

Graham told Trump they would impeach him if he even rushed Mueller.

The Deep State had deep roots - from FISA to AG - to certain Senators that hang out with Supreme Court justices.

Draining the swamp was a fail as it has been filled to the breaking point.

Trump could never drain the swamp. It would have exposed too many Republicans had he done so. Just shows they are ALL corrupt. Even the ones you like.

Agree that any outsider from the swamp would have been better choice.

There are two reasons Trump couldn’t fire Wray:

1)He needed his own party on his flanks when he came under attack for doing it.

2)Trump needed the votes of many weak and surrender prone GOP voters who are exhausted by this endless palace intrigue.

So he took the least palatable option and tried to nurse a phony coalition to election day to GOTV. It would have worked had the Uniparty not brazenly stolen the election.

The Trump WH has never the same after the travel ban nonsense. The aggressiveness was gone.

My own outsider’s opinion is that Barr was “appointed” by the deep state to manage Trump. Trump accepted Barr because he called a truce on the Russia-gate nonsense and would at least support parts of Trump’s agenda. The deep state just needed to keep Trump fenced-in until they could work their Nov. 3 election magic.

Agree with everything here. Trump won’t tell us the truth because it makes him look weak, IMO. Unfortunately he was.

I would’ve inserted Gen. Flynn, or Col. Allen West.

It wouldn’t have mattered. The bureaucracy just refused to do their jobs and Trump needed supporting Congressional oversight to root out the DOJ corruption. That was never going to happen.

Very true, but DJT could have fired Barr and simply let the system roll the next available unit into his slot. He might have gone thru 20 stiffs before hitting on a real American but he would have been better off, not to mention he’d have drained some Swamp.

It wouldn’t have mattered. I talked to a Fedgov contractor who flat out admitted to my face that his dept (Not DOJ) quit working for Trump once the pandemic started. They didn’t even try to fake it any longer and just shut it down.

The person said Barr went to the White House for a meeting

Is The Person related to the guys named Anonymous Source or Unnamed Source? They must be a close knit family.......

Inquiring minds would like to know......LOL!

I know people would say “I told you so” but I had such high hopes for Barr in the early going when it seemed like he was serious about following a pro-America, pro-Constitution, pro-Trump policy agenda.

Once again, a terrible disappointment. I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the ball with Lucy placeholding.

Same here. It truely sucks coming to the realization that we have literally no allies in the swamp. We’re outflanked, with Quislings in control of “our” party and not a single elected so-called “conservative” will drop a dime on the Uniparty scam.

-- IMHO America's top apparatchiks (DOJ, CIA, DOD come to mind) are more powerful than the President or Congress. --

Yep. Elected positions are puppet actors, paid well. Movie-making might be a good parallel. The actors don't write the script, control the outcome, or even the set. They read lines and "sell" the character and action as reality.

The increase in my personal cynicism index was unexpected, too.

How do you save a tree that is rotted through? You don’t!

Declaration of Independence is loaded with wisdom on this count. Government will not fix itself. It is literally enemy of the people.

THIS is what so many do not understand. I really do not know why they do not get that.

Trump had to go through the dirtbag McConnell to get most of his team in place. McConnell also made it impossible for Trump to make a recess appointment.

I've thought the same thing. Its only a guess, but I feel Trump went in thinking he could get his way by force of his personality and energized base, but quickly ran into the quicksand swamp. They had him spinning with constant political and media attacks, like nothing he ever experienced before. Admitting failure would be very much against his personality

President Trump's biggest mistake was choosing Javanka over Bannon/Gorka.

Too true. Most unfortunate.

“If anyone ever “threatens to quit”, they should be fired and walked out of the building. That includes the AG.”

In organizations I worked for if an employee resigned, they were immediately escorted from the building. No conversation, no attempt to determine why the employee decided to leave. No attempt to change the mind of “mission critical” people.

The CEO several times told his executive team, “This organization will not be hostage to people. No one is indispensable, that includes me. Either you are with the program, or you aren’t.”
