Financial and emotional STRESS due to the lockdowns , people losing jobs, businesses, life savings, excess drug use and drinking, limited social contacts, erc. all would have contibuted to exces deaths.
If drug overdoses increased 20%, that would account for 14,000 additional deaths. Not 530,000. And suicides were down 5% in 2020. Heart attacks and cancer deaths were at normal levels. It takes some Olympic level mental gymnastics to explain away an over 17% increase in deaths in one year when all the normal things killing us are within the normal range, but the pandemic that millions of doctors and nurses from coast to coast are saying is killing people can't be the cause. Normal year-over-year increases in deaths are 0.3% - 0.7%. Not over 17%.
