But how are the contractors and cable companies going to keep feeding from the public trough if we don't invent some busy work for them?

Who cares that (thanks to forward thinking entrepreneurs) hardline delivery of broadband will most likely be obsolete by the time the projects are complete?

By then we'll have other busy work dreamed up for them to do.
