I am from Columbus. My best friend’s granddaughter is a public school teacher in a close to Columbus suburban school district. Her husband is a Columbus policeman, his father and grandfather were as well.
She was seven months pregnant, still teaching and during class heard violent noise in the hallway, she saw a black boy in the hallway grabbing and assaulting a girl. She yelled at the kid to stop, he came at her telling her to mind her own f’ing business and then shoved her to the floor, hitting her head with a mild concussion. the principal, who was black refused to take action against the kid. Her police husband came to the school , which went nowhere, she pressed charges, which went nowhere. The school district refused to support her and made working there pure hell for her. She was threatened, followed and harassed. Finally had to resign.
A friend that worked in one of the urban reservation schools here in NJ described a similar situation; a female teacher tried to get a violent, disruptive student out of her class (the others had 0 chance of learning), and when the young Simba eventually struck the teachers she went on disability for the rest of the school year. If they wouldn’t remove him from the classroom, she found a way to remove herself - and because they never hold them back anymore, she never dealt with him again.
