Remember the fact that Minnesota AG is Keith Ellison (former Rep. Ellison - D-Minn), who is a racist, Marxist and reportedly a member of the Nation of Islam (Farrakhan).
He can screw up any prosecution unless it becomes a federal case, which it could since federal firearms laws were violated. State prosecution would be for the shootings, illegal possessions, felon in illegal possession of a weapon, etc.
This is going to be very interesting.
