I don’t ever foresee a situation where I would need to shoot 50 yards with a concealed carry piece. You could just run for cover. If I ever have to use it for real I would be point shooting at a pretty close distance. An optic just seems like something else to catch or snag when you need it most. For me, it seems more something for hunters. But everyone needs to go with what works best for them.
Just because you can not for see it happening dose not mean it well not.
Your reasonig is spot on. May I add that a laser on a pistol can come in handy when shooting fronm cover ... reach out away from body, point laser and fire without having to be behind the gun. And my old eyes need that colored dot out there, so I csan shoot from low ready position if indoors.
