If memory serves, there had just been a novel device invented that shone an IR light into the lungs of folks on respirators. The IR light showed promise as a 'disinfectant' of COVID-ravaged lungs.
So Trump comes out for a news conference and while speaking extemporaneously mentioned this new treatment as a way to 'disinfect' people internally.
This became the 'Clorox' story. Much like the Charlottesville 'fine people' statement.
The media is like a high school cliche of mean girls. I knew some of these folks way back in college - their snobbish, 'I'm smarter than you' attitude hasn't changed with age.
