Jeepers. We’ll keep you in our prayers!
If I may ask, how did you know you had to discontinue that medication before receiving the vaccine? How did you learn about that recommendation?
The reason that I ask is because primary care providers in NYS aren’t offering the vaccinations.
Sure, happy to answer. I see a specialist for my auto-immune disorder. During my last visit he recommended getting vaccinated. I've been seeing this specialist for 15 years now, he's the ONLY doctor I've had in the past 30 years since being diagnosed with this genetic disorder that's gotten me feeling better, so I follow his recommendations.
During our discussion he told me I'd need to skip a shot of my biologic auto-immune med in order to receive the vaccine, then wait until two weeks after getting vaccinated to resume my biologic med.
The reason I had to skip a shot of my biologic med (which I take every two weeks) was to not interfere with the vaccine.
The biologic med I take is Humira. I have an auto-immune disorder (it's genetic..) that causes horrible inflammation of my spine and major organs. Right now I feel like I'm getting "crushed" from the inflammation which the Humira treats.
It's bad enough concentrating on anything is difficult and I need to keep myself moving so I took the day off work and have been keeping myself busy moving...
