Can’t see that in the video.
Or a pistol anywhere around the dying perp after the shooting.
Where did it go?
He did, but just after he tossed the gun behind the fence. He then pivoted slightly, brought his right hand up along with his raised left hand at which point he was shot.
“I have a gut feeling cities are going to burn this weekend...between this and Duante.”
Wait til summer heat arrives with closed stores, understocked stores and high prices...
Factors not apparent in the video: Why was he racing to the scene, why was the kid running, and what was the call from the dispatcher that put him at the scene?
I do not blame the cop on this one, but it seems tragic nonetheless, unless the kid had a weapon earlier. The city will burn either way.
To prevent future similar incidents, maybe police AND the public both need to be trained on how to do the "show me your hands" order... maybe something like "EXTREMELY SLOWLY, show me your hands, or else I will fire!!"
As an overly energetic and "Raised Right" kid myself, I'd likely obey every police command quickly and suddenly, to be a Good Boy... and I'd probably look a lot like the kid here (although I would never have run in the first place).
I mean, that could be just shadow. But he put himself in that situation. Damn him.
I’ve run from cops before, but not after firing a handgun at someone or something.
bttt
The gun that was shown in the other video is on the other side of the fence, about 10 feet to the kid's right.
By the way, that looked like a heart shot, the kid was dead within seconds.
I don’t think so. By the time he raised both empty hands, the suspect already had tossed the gun behind the fence.
Always in cities where there isn’t a Republican to be found.
I’m pretty sure it’s the shadow of his hand on the fence. At 2:04, though, it appears he has something in his right hand that he’s trying to put behind the fence.
there is a pic where there is a gun on his right hand. but i believe it was dropped way before the office shout “drop it” and shoot.

I don’t think it’s a gun, it is after the hands up frame, where his hands are empty, and after he’s been shot.
Looking at the video from a larger screen instead of my phone, it looks like I was wrong, he wasn’t holding the gun as he turned.
Does anyone know a photo host that works with Free Republic. I’ve screenshotted the moment where I believe the gun is reasonably visible in the right hand. It’s at 02:38:39. I would upload it, but have no idea how.
Which officer’s cam shows the discarded firearm?
“It’s going to be hard for the media to say that Joe is doing a swell job.”
Yep. I was just trying to figure out how to upload that.
What I think you saw was the shadow of his hand against the fence.
The gun had already been tossed behind the fence. I know this because the image you posted was after the cop fired and the suspect was on his way down. If he had a gun in his hand as you implied, the gun would have been very close to the body. The gun was found about 10' behind the fence opening, clearly indicating the suspect had already tossed the gun just prior to being shot.
