Sorry to say, if I were a school teacher I wouldn’t want to work either. Even when I was in school I thought there was something wrong with a grown up who wants to spend decades with 13 year old kids.
I’m sure there are some great teachers, I had several. But as ever the 80:20 rule applies.

My brother teaches some high level stuff at the high school level. CAD design, pre-engineering type stuff.
The tyrannical governess of Michigan is shutting schools again. He’s totally pissed off. He wants to teach and his stuff has to be done in person.
My experience with teachers, especially college level, is that they are mostly people who were simply afraid to leave school. They stayed in their academic comfort zone until they retired. Some of my college instructors, even back in the seventies, were so out of touch with the real world it was absurd.
