“shills for the government on this website “

On this website that pathetic claim, offered instead of a reasoned defense, gets you laughed at.

The counter question is this — Do the vaccines protect you from the variants?

The big pharma vax shills would try to convince you yes. That the vaccine is superior to actually getting the virus in terms of immunity.

How can it when they don’t know what it’s going to mutate into.

I will wait until a whole virus vaccine is available in the US.

Whole virus vaccines are “old school” vaccines based on injecting live attenuated virus or injecting inactivated (dead) virus.

These new vaccines, mRNA vacines (Pfiser, Moderna, etc.) or virus vector vaccines (J&J, Astra, et.c) are new technology that have never been approved for use in humans even through researchers have been trying to make vaccines/theraputics with them for decades.

Further, the new vaccines are “sub-unit” vaccines that target just a portion of the pathogen (e.g., spike protein). Sub-unit vaccines are new too, only a few recently approved vaccines are sub-unit vaccines (HPV vaccs for example)

“Friends of ours who had the virus were just told they MUST get the vaccine. The mother brought up that she’d had it, and they said doesn’t matter, new variants, get the vaccine.”

I know of two people and their doctors told them they couldn’t get the vaccine for 90 days after they had covid.

This part of the article in OP agrees with the way I’ve felt for a long time. Vaccinate the elderly, but not the young.

“..In support of this approach, evidence is now suggesting that the incidence in long-term care facilities of Covid-19 has dropped drastically following vaccination of these populations.

This is very good news for very precious persons in our populations who must be protected. But we also point out that at this time, we have no way to predict the longer-term consequences of vaccination with the new mRNA vaccination platform given that vaccine safety has not been tested adequately. This issue of safety cannot be sidelined to efficacy or effectiveness. Fortunately, this issue is probably of less importance in the elderly due to issues of limited life expectancy to begin with. ....”

However, perhaps young people working in hospitals, etc. should get the vaccine (if they want to, but not forced).

““Even if you have had the disease previously, or some vaccine, another vaccine booster shot (or two) would likely further increase immunity some marginal amount.”

I still find it so odd that you are promoting vax the way you are.”

Trying to be objective, and see both sides of the issue.

Why has CDC adopted the policy to vaccinate those who have already had COVID? I can’t know that (not a mind reader) so I brainstormed some of their potential rationales.

If you re-read the statement, you will will find that it is, quite simply, true. It is not overstated or exaggerated - it is moderated with the diminutive qualifier “marginal”.

You seem to find it odd that anyone could legitimately see a good side to this (or perhaps any) vaccine. I think that it is telling, of your own subjective bias on the issue.

Yes, of course Vitamin D, sunshine, fresh air, exercise are all good things. A strong immune system is a great defense against many things. One of the hallmarks of aging however, is a decline in immunity and a shrinking of the thymus gland. Lifestyle factors will not reverse that, but these vaccines do provide very powerful immunity to older people against COVID.

Both approaches have effectiveness - probably more together, than any of them separately.

Man!
And here my wife and I were really really hoping we could get the shot and post a selfie on Twitter (while wearing a mask by ourselves in the car) stating we have “done our part” to be “SAFE” and “RESPONSIBLE” according to TPTB...

Why, you are a posting genius. How could I have ever been wrong about you. And what is this "Sad News"? Perhaps you have a sidebar to post as well?

Sorry about the side bar. I forgot to take it out from the HTML in this long article.
