Kent says he needed the money to help find FBI agent Robert Levinson, who went missing in March 2007 and is presumed to be dead by his family, but Kent claims he’s seen video evidence that Levinson is alive in Iran.
“Matt Gaetz is in need of good publicity, and I’m in need of $25 million to rescue Robert Levinson,” Kent said on the show, and acknowledged that he asked Gaetz’s father for the money.
So where does Gaetz come in? I mean blackmailing him to get an agent extracted? What kind of “secret agent man” is Gaetz.
The questions for me are who is Stephen Alford and when did he and Kent learn Gaetz was under investigation and how did they come up with this convoluted plan? And why did they believe giving Matt the glory would 'leverage' help and money from Gaetz' father?
Who is Stephen Alford? What did he know and when did he know it? Who thought of this plan?
This has the earmarks of a Stefan Halper and George Papadapoulos operation.
Who is Alford? When and how did he meet Bob Kent? Who knew about the Gaetz investigation first (Alford or Kent) and when did they find out about it?
Was Alford setting-up Kent as a patsy with this convoluted plan?
The blackmailers alleged that Gaetz could "burnish his reputation" and "garner some goodwill" from the FBI if he'd only cough up the $25 million.
