Dominion Voting Systems sued FOX News on Friday for $1.6 billion in a defamation lawsuit.
Back in November FOX News host Dana Perino urged Dominion Voting Systems to sue Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell.
....snip....
The AP reported:
Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News on Friday, arguing the cable news giant falsely claimed in an effort to boost faltering ratings that the voting company had rigged the 2020 election.
The lawsuit is part of a growing body of legal action filed by the voting company and other targets of misleading, false and bizarre claims spread by President Donald Trump and his allies in the aftermath of Trump’s election loss to Joe Biden. Those claims helped spur on rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 in a violent siege that left five people dead, including a police officer. The siege led to Trump’s historic second impeachment.
Dominion argues that Fox News, which amplified inaccurate assertions that Dominion altered votes, “sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process,” according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by The Associated Press.

That is precisely and exactly what they are trying to do.
That’s exactly what she meant. The leftist media is twisting her words to frame a different narrative and the weak minded is falling for it.
Never understood the whole ‘discovery’ thing. For one, it hasn’t stopped any law suit from being brought forward. Second, it hasn’t resulted in any lawsuit being pulled out. Third, as recently as a couple months ago, Fox News (and Newsmax) was putting out sadly groveling news bits walking back election fraud claims in a manner that seemed to suggest it was they who were afraid of a lawsuit. Finally, the most advanced so far - the case against Sidney Powell - resulted in her taking a ‘no reasonable person’ defends rather than the often-mentioned ‘discovery, yes!’ approach.
So, I wonder why people always make discovery seem to be some sort of Uno Reverse Card, when so far it seems that it’s people on our side groveling and trying to avoid lawsuits?
Almost makes it appear like a modern version of the old European ‘throw salt over your left shoulder’ superstition. Makes those who believe in such feel good, but so far appears pretty ineffective.
That’s not her argument at all. That’s a “bad legal take” on her motion to dismiss.
Apparently, Dominion management believes that, the best defense is a good offense.
Taking the offensive is a way of intimidation, meant to prevent actions to be taken against the offender. Dominion is guilty.
Nailed it! The “internet lawyers” desperately want to believe that they are right. So they use legal terms that they don’t understand and then act “shocked” when a court doesn’t rule the way that they think the law should work.
It’s a coping mechanism.
That was news to me also.
She’s more than a RINO now.
IMO: The Dominion pukes have nothing but bluster and threats. However, our crooked court system (judges) will no doubt side with Dominion if their law suits even get to a court.
“She now claims that no reasonable person would conclude that she should have been taken seriously when she slandered the company.”
That is a dishonest summary, assuming you actually read her motion. What she said was that politics is a rough game and no one would simply ASSUME she was correct. Given all the give and take of politics, most people would suspend judgment until one side or the other wins in court. And it never went to court. So the company never suffered any loss.
Any ties between Dominion and Soros?.
Sounds like far to much money for a company to be playing with.
Foxnews betrayed the nation for communists now let them fry by communists.
I skimmed Sydney’s 90 page motion and paraphrased it with added snark. There was no Kracken, just groveling.
Sydny claimed on TV with a voice of absolute certainty (and a stellar legal pedigree) that votes were flipped and she had the proof. There were very legal weasel words you would have expected.
Sydney blew it— she got people’s hopes up, she led people down the wrong path, and she made people who wanted to believe her look like fools. She made it easy for Dems to point to her as an example of why Republican’s are crackpots to think that the election wasn’t clean.
It will be trivial to prove that Dominion suffered damages. Not a billion dollars worth, but Sydney is going to lose. And “discovery” ain’t going to help her. And no chance her motion to move the lawsuit to TX will be granted.
The courts are going to have the final word on that.
Wrong.
the First amendment prohibits CONGRESS from making such laws.
Freedom of the press is limited to those who own one.
Either Fox wins on the facts or they lied and will lose.
You can’t accuse someone of making defective or deceptive equipment if you can’t back it up with facts (and none of this ‘they erased everything BS).
Either Fox *proves* - and not just to partisans of the right- that Dominion threw the vote or they pay a lot of money.
Freedom of speech does *not* include libel, slander nor incitement to riot. Truth is always an absolute defense.
We shall see.
It must be botulism poisoning.
Dana has had so much Botox injected into her face that she is starting to get that “joker” expression on her eyebrows.
I saw her yesterday pushing some piece of crap book on Fox Business and her forehead never moved throughout the interview.
it’;s something- that’;s for sure- We don’t watch fox any more- not after they went full on anti-Trump and pro rino-
I hope they bankrupt fox news.....
“Either Fox wins on the facts or they lied and will lose.”
Freedom of the press means the freedom to converse and to disseminate ideas being expressed. Now, I don’t watch Fox News, but I would doubt they categorically accused Dominion of corruption (how would they know) but merely related what was being said on a large scale.
The key word you used is “lied.” It would be impossible to prove that Fox lied. Lying is saying something with the intent to deceive.
My office has two TVs on the trading floor tuned to Fox Business all day long with no sound.
They are doing a story on boat sales right now with a live shot from West Palm Beach, FL.
