I don’t even have a smart phone. I don’t have those social media accounts.
I have had the same phone number for 25 years. If someone can’t reach me, they are not supposed to
I doubt that their reach can be curtailed given how people are addicted to social media, instant feedback, etc. let’s say the powers that be wanted to curtail or restrict access to this site. They simply “remove” the dns entry that translate the domain name to an IP address and viola...typing in free republic doesn’t resolve and this site can’t be found. They aren’t restricting free speech or anything but you would need to know the IP address for free republic to get to it. Oh and dns lookup won’t work either since fr is no longer the lookup table.
Supposedly a separate entity manages dns tables but is a private company I believe so who’s to say the won’t do as described above if a site is deemed untruthfull according to some monitoring group.
It’s one thing to say you won’t do social media....but what would you call FR...?? You get your s check deposited to your bank electronically...you are using the ‘net...you pay any bills you online....you use the ‘net. In short we as a society use the ‘net way more than many of us realize.
