Lawyers for former President Donald Trump sent a cease and desist letter to the Republican National Committee (RNC) over the weekend demanding that they stop using his name and likeness for fundraising efforts.
The letters were also sent to the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) and National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
This follows a report that Trump and his new campaign team are also cracking down on the use of the president’s name for fundraising
According to a scoop from Politico on Saturday, Trump wants the organizations to stop “using his name and likeness on fundraising emails and merchandise.”
On Monday the RNC responded and told Trump attorneys to stuff it — the Republican Party will continue to raise donations using Trump’s name!

Easy. President Trump is remaining a Republican. President Trump is Targeting incumbent Republican RINO’s. The RNC wants to play both sides. Stay good with President Trump, use his name to raise money and use that money to protect the incumbent RINO’s President Trump is targeting.
Trump is trying to play both sides, too. He’s already endorsed RINO Tim Scott. Now he says the GOP can’t raise money on that endorsement? Makes little sense. Trump needs to decide what he wants to do.
They should use Bush and Romney names in their fundraising. Be more truth in advertising.

Well, that part is obvious... but this still doesn’t make any sense... What is he saying about the RNC???
Don’t get me wrong now... as far as i’m concerned the GOP/RNC is one in the same.. and it’s deader than a doorknob to me. I’m therefore NOT trying to defend them. I’m very much bothered they would use the money they raise off of Trump for RINOS... but therein lies the problem.
You cannot have your cake and eat it too. From a very objective viewpoint, the optics of this looks VERY BAD! The RNC is the money-making arm of the GOP is it not? Trump is making himself look more like a narcissistic dictator than a GOP team player by doing this. How can he expect to control how the political party spends money?
If he wanted to totally neuter the RNC from using his name to make money, then HE SHOULD HAVE FORMED A THIRD PARTY!!!
This is the kind of thing that WILL fracture the GOP party... and it’s not like I want to see the GOP survive... NO! It NEEDS to die.... one way or the other. The REAL conservative patriots in the GOP SHOULD HAVE LEFT the party after Jan 6th.
But no... now Trump is acting like a Butt-Hurt Bull in a China closet! And THAT is what it looks like politically.
I’m a Trump fan... but it’s stuff like this that makes me pause a bit and wonder. Why does this bother me?

You might be correct. As an ex-Republican I seem to recall the rank and file of the GOP running like Lemmings to the beat of the Grand Old Party.
Trump does not have to ask supporters not to give to these hacks.
For thinking people, he sent a clear message by the cease and

That is actually a very good answer.
But by being the front-runner of the GOP, he is more or less politically viewed as a quarter-back... not the CEO or Coach.
It appears he is trying to use the law to take down political rivals within the party... not good.
Maybe this is just me being mad because he didn’t form a third party.
I’m so pissed at all of them I could just spit.
Too many are corrupt... too few in the party to save it.

He has. He’s created his own RINO Hunting PAC. These moves, suing the RNC get a great deal of PRESS. Helps to get the word out about his PAC targeting RINO’s. Talk Shows are talking about it. News articles are written about it. Discussion Boards are talking about it. Social Media and Blogs are discussing it. Get the picture?
The RNC is about to learn a very costly lesson.
I would say he us guarding his brand by aggressively asserting control over his name and image. Smart marketing, or political strategy if you prefer. By doing this, he exerts control over the message and the flow of cash. And of course, it’s a power move. Trump owns the party. The party does not own him, his name or his image.
Anyway, that’s how it looks to me.
