Verbose (first few paragraphs seem sufficient) but well put.
It’s the intolerance of disagreement (from a side which prides itself on “diversity, understanding, tolerance”) which the biggest problem.

Nothing new. Back in the 80s I was a Junior Achievement volunteer. My class was discussing music, and I mentioned that I had no use for their music, that I was a big band jazz fan.

Immediately a furor erupted. They insisted that I adopt their tastes and praise what passed for music in their world.

I told them I was entitled to my opinion, and I didn't care what they listened to .

No relief, however. They insisted that I agree with them.
