Donald Trump will reportedly deliver a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida this weekend in which he will claim the mantle of power in the GOP by saying he is “still in charge.”
A longtime adviser to the former President tells Axios that the speech will be a “show of force” in which he will announce, “I may not have Twitter or the Oval Office, but I’m still in charge.”
Going a step further, Trump is expected to argue that he is still the man to drain the Washington swamp as the Republican “presumptive 2024 nominee.”
Trump will be making his speech on Sunday, the final day of the conference.

Yes and No. If The GOP were a real party that was trying to win elections and move America is a more conservative direction then the answer would be overwhelmingly yes.
> Do you agree with him? <
“In charge” in that he can still greatly influence events? Yes.
“In charge” in that he is still calling the shots? No, of course not.
As a side note, I hope Trump doesn’t use that phrase “in charge”. It would annoy liberals. But it’s a bridge too far.
If he was ever in charge of the GOP he could have stopped them from assisting the Democrats cheating him out of office.
The GOP opposed Trump as much as the Democrats did.
Trump will do what Trump does best: Make people’s heads explode.
Do you agree with him?
of course Trump is still in charge. Which is why all the talk of 3rd parties, was bunk encouraged by the left to try to split us.
This is Trumps party, Rino’s need to bow down, or get out of the way.
I'll go one further. What he is in charge of is not stated explicitly, as in the article title: GOP.
While the headline states "I’m Still in Charge’ of GOP", the quote in the article states "I may not have Twitter or the Oval Office, but I’m still in charge.”
Note the final period.
The Bush League Republicans all got re-elected and they assisted the Democrats to cheat Trump out of office.
I would prefer that he not be calling the shots in the gop. The gop needs younger leaders and candidates and not more of the same old guys running.
True, but they will answer to the votes in the next primaries.
“Of course Trump is still in charge. Which is why all the talk of 3rd parties, was bunk encouraged by the left to try to split us.”
Yeah, right, OK, mmhmm. You and all the rest of the GOP quisling traitors and perpetual suckers can go right on believing your nonsense, including, apparently, Trump himself. But there will never be another legitimate election again, Trump will never see the numbers of voters turn out for him or any other GOPee stooge, and no GOPee candidate, including Trump, will ever prevail in any future national election.
Voting in any of our forever-rigged elections is absolutely worthless. There is no way forward from the 2020 electoral catastrophe except state-by-state nullification, non-compliance, and secession. This will be made starkly clear as our sorry future as a defunct country unfolds.
This article refers to and links to the AXIOS article actually reporting this.
Didn’t Purdue just play a round of golf the other day, and after that decided not to run again for senate again. That sounds like Trump is running something
You couldn’t be more wrong.
Ideas are what is important and fidelity to those ideas.
Trump kept his word like no other Republican leader has done since Reagan.
You sound like an Establishment Republican.
Same nuanced approach of trying to move conservatives away from Trump.
As such, you are no better than a troll.
Do I agree he’s still the leader of the GOP? Yes. Is he the candidate best equipped to lead the ticket in 2024? He’s the best until someone better comes along, and I don’t know who that might be at the moment.
My family consists of trolls and ogres....are you discriminating against me???
Welcome to FreeRepublic (sniff, sniff)
If elections became rigged - they can become un-rigged.
Now's the time to call white trash liberals on the carpet about using the black community to do their dirty work for them.
DJT is in charge of whatever he wants to be in charge of. The question then becomes, “What does he want to be in charge of?”
At his age, that is a big decision.
I’m sure he must be making an assessment of what is possible both in the near term and in the long run.
I think he should do some rallies in order to take the pulse and temperature of the movement. I think that would serve to show the degree of viability that is still afoot. It might also give opportunity for some of his Elishas or Timothys to step up to the podium as well.
