What’s at Stake in the Coming Title IX War
Institute for Family Studies ^ | February 9, 2021 | Kay Hymowitz

In April 2011, an Assistant Secretary in the Obama administration’s Office for Civil Rights named Russlyn Ali sent a letter to college and university deans. The purpose of the letter, which began with the ostensibly courteous greeting, “Dear Colleague,” was to inform schools of the agency’s displeasure with the campus response to what it saw as a troubling “epidemic” of sexual violence and to give “guidance” about the procedures that institutions should follow to better protect students.

Missives clarifying agency regulations are a fairly common, if tedious, form of bureaucratic communication in D.C., of interest to few people other than compliance officers, attorneys, and various institutional i-dotters. This one, however, vaulted into headlines and social media threads and eventually landed in the mud of presidential politics. Its blasé approach to due process rights for accused students made civil libertarians, various legal organizations, and some academic groups like the American Association of University Professors see red. In 2016, Republicans included annulling the letter’s guidance in their party platform. In fact, Secretary of Education Betsy De Vos rescinded it in 2017 and introduced more protections for college men—in almost every case, the complainant is female and the accused, male—being investigated for sexual misconduct. Now, a new administration will turn the worm again: President Joe Biden has promised to revive the 2011 letter with the larger goal of dismantling the putative “rape culture” of the nation’s college and university campuses.

Before that happens, it’s essential to clarify just how much is at stake in what will surely be another chapter in the country’s endless culture war.

Title ix should end completely. This is artificial bs to the negative dtriment of men.

Boys should be boys teams.

Girls should be on girls teams.

If you have male genitalia you’re on a boys team.

If you have female genitalia you’re on a girls team.

No exceptions period. Make your “statements” about whatever pet peeve you have, off the dam field.

"Title ix should end completely."

I agree 100%.

Patriots are reminded that the only sex-related right that the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect limits Congress to protecting only the right to vote on the basis of biological sex at birth, probably most of Title IX unconstitutional imo.

Title IX is a good example of the federal government overreaching its constitutionally limited powers imo.

I thought this letter was about “believe all women” so a mere accusation can result in a man getting kicked out of the college, losing all of the money he spent there, having a tough time getting into any other college, and then having a tough time repaying his school loans having no degree and a giant red ‘R’ painted on his back.

There is absolutely no biological difference between men and women, so women should be able to beat the hell out of any assaulter. I see 90 lb women beating the living hell out of a half dozen 250 lb all muscle military trained guys simultaneously in the movies all the time, so it must be true

Yep. Men had no rights to due process until Betsy DeVoss changed things. Now sock puppet Biden . . . I mean Obama via Susan Rice . . . will just reverse the changes as he micro-manages his 3rd term from afar.

...the agency’s displeasure with the campus response to what it saw as a troubling “epidemic” of sexual violence...

What are the true statistics? Are sex assaults really up or is it like global warming or systemic racism, lying in hope of political advantage?

90% of what the Federal government currently does should be ended completely

Including laying off the employees, selling the buildings, and maybe salting the earth too.
