It just occurred to me that I recall having heard or read somewhere that Rudolf Hess was imprisoned at the Tower for a short time. If that's true it's a very interesting tidbit indeed!

Yes, Hess was imprisoned at the Tower for a while. They also executed German spies there in WWI and WWII:
