Long ago the science fiction writer Alice Sheldon (who often wrote under the pseudonym James Tiptree, Jr.) fought against a local licensing requirement attempted in 1980 by Fairfax County, Virginia.

The grab money, they demanded all “writers” get license and pay a tax.

She refused and said if a government grants a license then it could later take away a license, thus being a threat to freedom of the press and expression. Wow.

At one point she said “It is my hope to achieve jail.”

The tax and license were later dropper. This story should be remembered as I’m sure it will be not too long before the totalitarian Dems try this for TV and printed media as well as the already rampant social media rulers’ tyranny.

Not much of semi-satire/ satire. I remember something of this nature reported a few days ago. Democrats are drooling to get this implemented.
