As John Adams said, people don’t have to be willing to risk their lives. They need only be willing to DESTROY their “comfort”. And that is what fighting back does. It’s what happened when I fought wearing a mask on a flight from Denver to Chicago. It got ugly, but I was always polite.
Ultimately, I won because the pilot said, as they were yelling at me, that we were to wear masks except when eating or drinking. I had brought a big bag of Costco shelled peanuts and nibble on them for the entire flight. Without a mask on. I followed the letter of the rules.
It’s also fun to drink stuff through your mask. :)
Problem is, for many people it’s easier to risk their lives than their comfort. “She knew she would never be a saint.... but she thought she could be a martyr if they killed her quick.”
Flying home from Tampa to Midway tomorrow. It’s going to be fun eating the whole way back without my mask on. Thanks for that tip, it’s gonna be fun. 🤣
