Pence is worse than you would possibly imagine.
I don’t care if he manages to finagle Trump’s endorsement.
He’s already blown what slim chance he ever had with me.
I respected his integrity and unflappableness, at one point, but he always struck me as weak, a pushover.
He did not have the fire that Trump had.
And his latest escapades sealed the deal for me.
I will not vote for Pence.
It is not a step at all, next or otherwise. The Vice President has zero authority nor even a role to do that. Zero. That is reality. In fact no entity has the power to send things "back to the states" at the moment. If the Electors were invalidated, Congress would have been in charge of electing the President and Vice President. The role of the States was completely over with at that point.
If different Electors were to be appointed, that is something entirely within the purview of the State legislatures. They did not do so. He had one slate of Electors before him, and his only role is to have the opened and counted. That's it. The Constitution says he "shall" do so. Period. Any parliamentary objections he would rule on as a the president officer. That's it. He cannot make any declarations on his own. And even then, any rulings he made could have been appealed and overturned.
It is time to stop spreading misinformation on what powers and authority the Vice President has and also to stop smearing Pence personally for "refusing" to do something he could not even do. We should have more Constitutional knowledge and political savvy than this around here.

I fully support your points. I am sick and tired of people buying into this weak legal opinion that Trump latched onto in a desperate attempt to keep power. It was about as bad as the Texas suit to SCOTUS. Trump should have known better and I feel pretty sorry for what Pence had gone through.

We have to find another candidate and have plenty of time to determine the best one. He or she will have different strengths to go against Harris, who will be prez by then.
A desperate attempt to keep power? More like seeking a peaceful solution to the whole catastrophe. More like an attempt to check out the accusations of voter fraud. Getting to the truth about it all. Or isn’t that what you’re in favor of?

My family will work hard to elect someone else instead, if he runs. Just like we’ll do all we can to oust Kemp.
