The Campaign to Stamp Out Academic Heresy
James G. Martin Center for Academic Renewal ^ | January 27, 2021 | George Leef

Posted on 01/27/2021 5:45:10 AM PST by karpov

Back in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, church officials felt it necessary to scrutinize every book or pamphlet for the slightest hint of heresy. If the work deviated from doctrine, it would be banned, burned, and the author could be punished.

The Enlightenment brought a change in attitude toward freedom of speech. In Britain, America, and a few other nations, most of the people came to accept that censorship was bad. Even though few of them had read John Stuart Mill, they absorbed his argument that the way to find the truth was to allow everyone the freedom to speak his mind. Of course, people would sometimes say things that were mistaken (even deliberate lies), but the way to combat them was for other people to use their freedom to argue against them.

Accordingly, the United States wrote a ban against government interference with freedom of speech and press into the First Amendment to the Constitution. And in the academic world, it was accepted that scholars must be allowed to publish their thoughts and research findings without hindrance.

If other scholars disagreed, they should formulate counter-arguments and present them. That’s what academic freedom boiled down to—unrestricted competition in the marketplace of ideas.

Sadly, the consensus in favor of that is rapidly eroding. There’s abundant evidence to show that and I’ll focus on one recent case.

Glenn Geher is a psychology professor at SUNY–New Paltz, where he directs the New Paltz Evolutionary Psychology Lab. During his academic career, professor Geher has published more than 100 papers. He’s familiar with the trials and tribulations of getting research published, but never ran into such trouble as he encountered with a paper the explored the underlying political beliefs and motivations of the professoriate.

Abolishing taxpayer supported tenure would be an important step if academic freedom, free thought and free inquiry is to be restablished at American colleges and universities.

Maybe term limits should extend to academia. Force the intellectuals to get a real job every now and then.

If colleges and universities want to engage in political activity eliminate the tax deduction for donations to colleges an universities and require them to pay property tax.

Abolishing taxpayer supported higher education would do the trick much faster. No one can argue that the system which has been in place for over 100 years has failed us!

Check out the website for your local state university’s english department. The website is often as likely to talk about ‘social justice’ and ‘diversity’ as it is academic topics.

Eliminate all subsidies and you will find them teaching actual professional disciplines instead of Marxist studies.

That is done because Freshman English is the only course(s) that every student must take. Gotta indoctrinate them somehow. A smart student can get around the grievance studies courses.

Eliminate all subsidies (particularly foreign govt payoffs) and you will find actual professional disciplines being taught instead of Marxist studies.

WHYY-PBS reported U of Pennsylvania made a $100 million contribution to the Phila School District.
Is the U of Penn's donation prohibited Chinese payoffs? Is Penn getting rid of evidence to save Biden's sorry ***?

Philly’s other big universities stay silent (Shakedown City?)

Two weeks after the U of Pennsylvania made a gargantuan $100 million contribution to the School District of Philadelphia, it’s unlikely the cash infusion will inspire copycat donations from major higher education peers in the city. When Ivy League Penn made its announcement, City Council member Helen Gym and others voiced hope that other universities with large landholdings, like Temple or Drexel, might also pony up. “I certainly hope that some of our strongest civic institutions can see beyond their individual acts of charity and generosity,” “When universities and our major nonprofits, who have long been invested in education and public health, unite on a mission to invest in our schools, we send a clear message to Harrisburg and to Washington, D.C. that we are invested in our future.” (Excerpt) Read more at whyy.org ...

Biden Center Under Investigation for Illegal Donations From China
DB Daily Update | David Blackmon / FR Posted on 5/25/2020, 9:19:56 AM by EyesOfTX

If the label says “Biden,” it was definitely influenced by China. – John Solomon at JustTheNews.com is reporting that The National Legal and Policy Center has asked the U.S. Department of Education to investigate its findings that the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has over the past several years accepted more than $22 million in anonymous China-originated donations to its Biden Center and failed to properly disclose the contributions.

From Solomon’s report: The complaint, filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, says that over the past three years, the university has (admitted to accepting around) $22 million in anonymous funding from Chinese sources. That’s out of a total of more than $70 million from Chinese donors during that time, the NLPC said.

Those significant funds, including the anonymous amounts, rolled in after the Biden Center was announced in early 2017 and launched in February 2018. The center is located in downtown Washington, D.C. Federal records show that the University of Pennsylvania has received significant donations from Communist China since the opening of the center.

One 2018 donation alone totals $14.5 million; it is listed as “anonymous” in federal records. The NLPC alleges the university may have violated federal law in accepting those anonymous monetary donations from Communist China. The Higher Education Act mandates schools report the national origins of any donations above $250,000 although not necessarily the individual names of donors themselves. [End]

This serves as just one more reminder that Biden, his son (and his brother) have long been in the pockets of Communist Chinese interests. The stark reality facing our country today is thatall of the gains President Donald Trump has made through the sheer force of his will in terms of U.S./China relations and trade policy will be immediately reversed the day after Biden assumes office.

..........virtually all U.S. antibiotics and PPE are sourced through Communist China at some point along their supply chains ..........s fair share.

KEEP IN MIND.....virtually all U.S. antibiotics and PPE are sourced through China at some point along their supply chains....... There are trillions of dollars at stake, and Creepy Uncle Joe wants to ensure his family continues to get its fair share out of Communist China.

====================REFERENCE=====================

It has recently come to light that US politicians are sending Communist China vast amts of tax dollars to supposedly buy Covid masks ...... Cali Gov Newsome was nabbed sending China a billion tax dollars. Why? Because the Chinese are using the Covid orders to launder the tax dollars for the salivating pols.

In July of this year, Natural News reported how California Gov. Gavin Newsom was caught wiring half a billion dollars to communist China as part of a “massive face mask money laundering scheme.” Back in April, even the mainstream media was questioning what Newsom was up to when it was revealed that he had wired half a billion dollars to an electric car company in China to supposedly purchase “N-95 masks” for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).

FYI---The opportunistic Biden dove headfirst into the "mask" money launder.
How many billions of our tax dollars will Biden send CCP for this shady deal?

Lookout taxpayers.....when Biden wears that worn out "trust me face" with appropriate frown, he's up to no dam good.

NARRATIVE --snip-- Biden announced a new coronavirus task force that consists of 13 physicians, public health experts and researchers, and outlined via a seven-point plan how his administration will address the pandemic. (He also laid out plans for economic recovery, racial justice and climate change.) So, how will Biden’s plan change daily life during the pandemic? Here’s what you need to know: More mask mandates says Biden---- While there has been no national mandate, Biden plans to “implement mask mandates nationwide by working with governors and mayors,” according to the Biden-Harris transition website. Biden plans to personally call governors and mayors of major cities to encourage mask mandates, NBC News reported Sunday. --snip--- On the campaign trail, Biden said he supported national mask mandates in all federal buildings and all interstate transportation (which doesn’t currently exist), something that could be achieved through an executive order. --snip-- “Please, I implore you, wear a mask,” Biden said in a press conference Monday after meeting with his coronavirus advisory board. “Do it for yourself. Do it for your neighbor. A mask is not a political statement, but it is a good way to start pulling the country together.”

<><> loans, handouts, govt purchases, and grants go to hand-picked entities and/or corporations...
<><> for public consumption, “straw man” entities go belly up & default....
<><> but the real money is moving through several stops on the way to Cyprus, off-shore banks, etc, for laundering...
<><> the laundered funds are then split;
<><> the usual cast of greedsters in line to cash in: pols of all stripes, Soros, The Clinton Foundation, Obama, Hunter Biden and the Biden Crime Family, etc.....
<><> Another version has bigtime US govt handouts, grants, foreign aid, (and IMF loans like the $5 billion to Ukraine).
