Hundreds of National Guard troops deployed to Washington, D.C. for the Biden inaugural this week have tested positive for the COVID-19 China coronavirus or are in quarantine for exposure to the virus, according to a report by Politico published Friday. Troops have been seen resting and sleeping in close quarters since their arrival at the Capitol last week. Thursday night 5,000 troops were reported to have been ordered to rest in a parking garage on Capitol grounds, prompting outrage among Congressmen and Senators. Because of long shifts that keep them from going back to their hotel rooms in the city, troops have been taking breaks in close quarters.
.... Snip.....
Now the deployment is turning into a superspreader event, Politico reports:

My 95 years old father, WWII vet just recovered at home from Covid. FACT. Covid19 is not like "as seen on TV". They did 2 covid tests for him on 23December, quick test was negative, on 28th they called from doctors office that the longer test showed positive. He was already on an antibiotic, but they gave him Ivermectin, Zinc, and heavy D-3 along with Claritin. He recovered pretty quickly, he is frail but Covid is not a guaranteed hospital stay or death.
You may not think so, but I live in the real world. In the open spaces in sparse part of Texas.
or in reeducation camp

Fauci has some explaining to do.
The only way Fauci has some explaining to do is if he contradicts the new Dear Leader.
Then the media will go after him.
I wouldn’t even forward that propaganda, but there are idiots everywhere.
Glad your dad is on the mend. Those WW2 vets are tough as nails. My dad was a WW2 vet USNavy.
I’m happy to hear about your dad. Old people tend to avoid the cytokine storm that is such an issue with young’er people. Not all parts of the country and not all ages have the same experience with the pandemic. I do agree that 99% of people will survive, but that’s a misleading statistic.
to give you my perspective, I’m just south of LA, in a county that is largely rural with pockets of towns/services that is ‘as seen on Tv’. My little semi-rural pocket area has 4000 or so locals who still party with an infection rate over 10% and half a dozen or so deaths, not all old people. Overall, my county floats between 2nd and 3rd in Calif in active cases and has zero ICU capacity for weeks now, no non-emergency surgeries. No haircuts, no sit-in restaurants, and only recently dentists have started advertising again - selectively and with a waiting list. This time last year, we had zero cases of covid, now over 1/4 million cases or about 8% of California’s 3.1M total . With LA leading the way at 1 million cases and currently one death every 8 minutes - exhausted medical teams still dispensing the best medical care the US has to offer.
California’s overall death rate is 1.2% (36K deaths/3.1M cases) and infection rate is 8% (Texas is 1.6% and 7.6%). California hospitalization rate averages about 4 in 1,000 cases. So, going back to the subject, and using California averages, out of every 1,000 infected, at least one will succumb to covid, 4 will be hospitalized, a portion hospitalized with covid will readmit within 140 days, several more hospitalized or no, will end up with long-covid (which is now pushing a 10month ceiling) and more still will end up with what may be chronic covid-related morbidities, such as decreased lung function, even if they claim no symptoms. So now you’re looking at 10 out of 1,000 having some degree of not being able to perform their jobs and needing ongoing medical care. They’ll be part of the 99% survival group, but that doesn’t mean they’ll be back to the rodeo.
Again, glad your pops is ok.
I do not believe in any of the stats they are too weighted with propaganda supporting an agenda.
That is the issue.
Respectfully,
Dave

Health officials in Chicago said a woman in her 60s had become the second U.S. patient diagnosed with the new virus; she’d returned from China in mid-January.
