I am having issues opening PDFs in Gmail, but if I download into the “c” drive all it opens. Just started this hour.
Having the same problem with Thunderbird mail (Firefox). Going on for a month or so now.

I find sometimes with pdf’s I have to right-click and ‘save as’ in order to get the document.

Appears to be just a corrupted pdf file, maybe an incomplete upload?
It showed about 224K on my drive then the file just disappeared.

The answer is probably in one of those blank EO sheets that Harris’s assistant signed yesterday...

Yes, I can do that ... a pain in the arse ... but at least I can (eventually) get to the PDF.

A while back I tried to download a trial version of a piece of software, and the download wouldn’t work. I examined the URL and there was an obvious mistake. I corrected it and the download worked.
I emailed the company and pointed out the error on their website, they replied and thanked me, but they never bothered to fix it.
I decided that a company that was that unwilling to fix a simple typo that prevented potential buyers from trying their product wasn’t a company that was worth dealing with.
I deleted the file.
Contact the company and see what they will do about your problem. If they won’t help you, then find another company to deal with. There are many.

Since I got tired of doing the work around - I went into Thunderbird, Tools, Options and moved down to the Files & Attachments section.
From there I moved down to the Action for PDFs and changed the setting from "Preview in Thunderbird" to "Always ask."
So now when I click on a PDF attachment it asks me what program to open with and offers Adobe Acrobat Reader as an option. I can live with that.

“There’s supposed to be a number after the block, not block null, to access the PDF file. As you go down the page, you’ll see other files with the number populated and the links work just fine.”
Exactly. Somebody borked the upload for Hi-Fi-news_02_2020 or reserved the placeholder and never uploaded the file.
I would suggest contacting them re getting a copy of the review.
Or...just browse these returns (DOH!):
