Dang. Just when I thought I had a basic grasp of something (like musical notation) someone like you has to post something that turns my head inside out. I never thought that a B-Sharp was higher than a C-Flat before in tuning, Pythagorian or otherwise.

It may have come to Pythagoras from the Egyptians - I don’t recall the details at the moment, but ancient Egyptian math was very complex.
