Oh brother. You can’t be for real at this point.
When I was 13 I purchased my first ten speed with money I had earned selling cedar planter boxes I put together from scraps of salvaged scraps of fencing. Right after I bought it I told my dad that I was riding it up to Mt. Rainier over 60 miles away. He told me to be careful but he didn't try to stop me. I didn't make it back until close to midnight. My parents didn't wait up or go looking for me. For the younger folks here... we didn't have cell phones back then. And I had to spend all my money on food. I had gotten lost, been attacked by dogs, had flat tires, and faced other challenges but nothing kept me from reaching my goal and returning.
That was just the start. I can remember being 40 miles from home, in the dark, hungry, cold and wet. My hands were so numb I could barely use my brake handles. I would spend my last dime on whatever I thought had the most calories so that I could convert it into the energy that I needed to finish my ride. And then I did the same the same thing the next day.
I eventually became a state champion and a nationally ranked bicycle racer who traveled all over the country winning races. The reason that I did well had little to do with natural ability and a whole lot to do with never giving up.
Later my greatest accomplishments on the job were the result of the same type of persistence. The reason I have been married only once while many of my friends have had multiple failed marriages was also the result of never giving up. Everything really worthwhile that I have accomplished in my life has been the product of not giving up in the face of sometimes tremendous adversity.
I am sorry for all the losers on this forum who have never learned this life lesson. The last couple of months have revealed the true colors of not just politicians but posters here. I had no idea that I was surrounded by so many gutless wonders. It is sickening really. So laugh away... Do you really think that I care?
