"In his first order of the new year to the country’s armed forces, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the need for 'full-time combat readiness',” writes Liu Zhen for the South China Morning Post, "...the PLA must be ready to 'act at any second'."
And a Happy New Year to you too!
Now I know we Americans can beat the free world at anything from war to tiddlywinks (Meet John Doe) but we'd rather not have to prove it. Y'know what I mean? Americans are a lovely peace-loving people with a Great Peacemaker for a President. But we're also a nation who cherishes the Second Amendment, loves their firearms, knows how to use them but hope they never have to.
And the Chinese? Well they're a lovely people too. Yeah! That's right! The Moms and Pops of every nation are wonderful people. Every travel show, like my favorite No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, proves that over and over again.
It's the governments of so many nations and the tiny percentage of radicals that are the problem. Never the people themselves.
That's the case with China and heck! It was the case with us as well 'til we started draining that damn Swamp!
But that's not the only change to China's People's Liberation Army. (What a euphamism!) Oh no! There are other changes coming. Big changes! For starters, they're going high techy-techy, even more techy-techy than they already are.
Lie Zhen writes that Xi, "also ordered the PLA to 'substantially increase' the use of technology in its exercises, and to keep up with the latest developments in military and hi-tech knowledge. These included the use of computer simulations and online combat in drills, as well as exploration of more opportunities to add hi-tech and the internet – known as tech+ and web+ – in training."
Been there.
Already doing that.
Try to keep up, China!
Luckily, we're not the only nation China isn't on the best relations with. We're not the only ones who may be in their crosshairs.
There's India irritating them on the southwest. That's been going on for a long time.
Taiwan was a burr under their saddle in 2020. And we mustn't forget Hong Kong!
We're probably not supposed to know about China's network "of detention centres for its Uighur minority...380 suspected facilities in the Xinjiang region - some 40% more than previous estimates." That must drain resources too. Hitler tried it. Really bad idea!
Two days ago, Minnie Chan of the South China Morning Post also reported, "China has expanded the power of its Central Military Commission (CMC) – headed by President Xi Jinping – to mobilise military and civilian resources in defence of the national interest, both at home and abroad. Revisions to the National Defence Law, effective from January 1, weaken the role of the State Council – China’s cabinet – in formulating military policy, handing decision-making powers to the CMC."
Just when you think they can't get more totalitarian!
Minnie Chan goes on to write, "The legislation also specifically stresses the need to build a nationwide coordination mechanism for the mobilisation of state-owned and private enterprises to take part in research into new defence technologies covering conventional weapons, as well as the non-traditional domains of cybersecurity, space and electromagnetics."
Well! They did a mighty fine job of screwing with Dominion! Tsk, tsk. Very naughty. Luckily, it was done too well and that was their downfall.
When you cast your mind over how many ports, acres, buildings and enterprises on American soil are owned by the Chinese "private enterprises...to take part in...defence technologies," it gives one pause. "They're he-ere!"
SCMP also quoted Chen Daoyin, an independent political commentator and former professor at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, who said... “the party commands the gun."
Aren't we glad it isn't that way here in the Good Ol' U. S. of A!?!
That reminds me of a story my dad enjoyed telling about one of the many short wars Israel fought with their Arab neighbors. Dad recounted Israel's adversaries had to seek direction and permission for every move they made in battle. The Israelis, on the other hand, thought, moved and fought using their own ingenuity. They controlled their own guns using their own intelligence instead of being micromanaged. That's how to win and win bigly!
But there's good news too. Writing for Kyodo News, Reito Kaneko reported that, "The Japanese government approved Monday a record defense budget for fiscal 2021 totaling 5.34 trillion yen ($51.6 billion) as it seeks to introduce longer-range missiles capable of attacking enemy vessels from outside their firing range, amid security challenges posed by China."
China would be wise to take a leaf from Napoleon and Adolf Hitler defeats. Never fight on more than one front at once. It's never worked well for any general down through history.
Better yet, don't fight at all, China. You have a lovely country, lovely people and oh! your food is to die for.
Despite China's huge outlay of cash to "ensure" Joe Biden's fake win, I hope, pray and believe we will not see a shooting war with China. They need our exports of food and fresh water. We appreciate their cheap products (and I feel guilty just saying that.)
Best of all, we have a Great Peacemaker in President Donald J. Trump. If he can broker peace in the Middle East, of course he can keep the peace with China.
But, just in case, keep your powder dry, Patriots.
We could already be at war.
Covid ...
The war starts Jan. 21.
Democrats calling in China support via the UN?
Where in the World is Jack Ma?
Your blog sucks
For those that pay the least bit of attention, we have been at war with China since the 1950s.
And yes, a shooting war at times.
Excellently written!
Meaning, they're going to invade Taiwan.

Bring it, Commies.
Second time recently, that I’m aware of. Both times, he made sure WE heard about it. That reads as a defensive move, but...they can’t swim here, and US Navy owns the Pacific, so my “worst case” is EMP.
It’s every army’s job to be prepared for war at any second. More meaningless blabbering just like North Korea and Iran.
This rhetoric from Xi to the PLA is standard and repeated at least once every year. This ultimately means nothing. We have been in a continuous Cold War with China since 1950.
Being ready to act at any second is the job of every military.
Any second?
Any millisecond!
Any microsecond!!
There’s an article on FR saying he was around today.
Laying low or something...
It’s 2021, we’re into femtoseconds.
