That old truism is a little bit misleading.
It is great that history is taught but the idea that the masses will ever be steeped deeply enough in the lessons of history is extremely and overly ambitious.
It is leaders who need to know the lessons of history and then need to sell important and applicable lessons to a population.
That's the way things work.
The fact that we have an ideologically corrupt media makes it impossible even for knowledgeable leaders to get historically important messages out if such messages run contrary to the ideology of that media.
I don’t think they teach history in school anymore.
No room left after they shoehorn in all the socialist propaganda.
How are we supposed to use a battle lost by the Romans to decide what to do with the election fraud? Should Trump have sent troops into the swing states to run the election?
The author talks about us degenerating into "tribalism", but is that our fault? We conservatives want a united front against liberalism. Instead we get an amalgam of libertarians, neocons, GOPe, Conservatism Inc., open border Chamber of Communism types, etc.
The left is unified against us. The conservatives used to be unified against the commies. Why can't conservatives unite against the progressives?
It is the GOPe and Conservatism, Inc. that need to clean up their acts and go 100% against ALL immigration and 100% for purple-fingered elections. Until and unless they do conservatism will remain a bunch of warring tribes.
