Reagan wrote about this earlier today about how the House speakership of Nancy Pelosi could be in danger. The Democratic House majority will be smaller next Congress. Democrats lost seats they weren’t expecting in the 2020 election. Similar disappointment marks how liberal America faired down-ticket this cycle, which puts a huge damper on the national election results. Pelosi surely didn’t expect that members of her delegation from the California suburbs would have to update their resumes come January. So, she really has no cushion for error here. The same goes for any legislation the Democrats want to pass in the lower chamber. A few defections could send the whole process into chaos.
Right now, with the nation still dealing with the coronavirus, it could lead to a situation where the House elects a Republican speaker in Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Someone started drinking early if they think a Republican is going to get the House speakership.
No, no and no...
No. Though with a shrunken advantage, Pelosi will remain Speaker of the House. Any other premise is nonsense.
Oh good grief. No and no.
lol, yea right. The same party that orchestrated the greatest election fraud in world history is going to let a republican become speaker with a dem majority.
c’mon
No way the dems will allow any republicans to get elected from here on out.
Until she dies.
Many of the old guard are now so old that they have to start kicking off soon.
I have been praying that God would remove them from office by whatever means He dems fit.
My prediction is that neither Pelosi nor McCarthy will be the speaker.....
A dark horse from the Democratic side will emerge.....
(For the ‘Woke” crowd, the “dark horse” is not a racial euphemism)
Sad to see “conservative” media reduced to such fantasy. Anything except supporting POTUS is on the menu, apparently.
Well stated.
No
No.
Did Matt Vespa have nothing better to write about than this??
What a maroon!
WILL NEVER HAPPEN!
No.
Somebody needs to get off meth. No Dem is going to vote for McCarthy.
Short of a true miracle, (which could happen) the democrats will vote as a block, and a few rino nevertrumpers will join them.
No. Even if the republicans managed to win the speaker vote on January 3rd, the democrats would eventually get all of their people to DC, and have another speakership vote.
A more clever thing to do would be for the republicans to vote for a different democrat, and try to get a couple of the democrats to go along with them.
Because it would be a bigger deal for the democrats to re-hold the speaker vote to remove a democrat, than to remove a republican.
The theory is not without merit. On January 3rd, the first vote held will be for speaker. This happens before any rules are cast, but I think after the “previous” house votes on whether to accept results of election for November’s house seats (because the house has final say over who gets to win house election contests).
This means that the speaker vote has to be in-person. Because they won’t be able to vote for proxy rules until after the speaker vote.
But a lot of democrats have not been showing up because they are afraid of COVID. And they only have an 6-8 vote majority now. So if somehow every new republican shows up, and 8 democrats do not show up, republicans would have the “majority”.
And there are a couple of democrats who promised NOT to vote for Pelosi, and even if they voted for a different democrat, that’s votes Pelosi wouldn’t have.
I mean, it isn’t going to happen. Pelosi will make sure every democrat shows up.
NO.....too weak.
Jim Jordan yes.
