I must admit post WWII through 66 was a great time to grow up in and around Detroit. Suburbs being built, malls, city vibrant on all of the major thoroughfares, parks, pools, schools, friends, sports, banks, restaurants, stores, movie theaters (great ones downtown), auto factories, MOTOWN, Cobo, Tiger Stadium, Olympia....all of it. We...had...it...all. ANY Detroit old-timer can verify what I am saying.

The “new normal” is not good. I have a lot of friends in Detroit.

You don’t realize what you’ve got till it’s GONE.

My husband remembers going to Tiger games with his aunt. All the men wore suits. Same aunt worked in Detroit, then Dearborn. Anyone could ride a bus safely to the downtown. He remembers going to Hudson’s downtown with his mom.

He is from western suburb.
