Agree. They don’t look dominant.
I’m neutral egarding Clemson (nothing against them though as I’m a PAC 12 guy) but Ido root for any team playing the Irish!
Yep, this was a glorified exhibition season. This National Championship should come with an asterisk.
If I ran College Football, any team that gives up 40 or more points in a game is automatically disqualified from winning an NC.
“No reason to think that won’t happen again.”
Clemson and Alabama have met 29 times and Clemson has won 5 of them, the last two in 2017 and 2019. And in 2018 Alabama beat them when the tide were #2 and the tigers #1. Rankings mean nothing.
If you go by numbers, Alabama is averaging almost 50 points a game against their opponents almost 19.45. They are averaging just under 600 yards a game on offense while giving up almost 300 a game. Their field goal kicker in 12 for 12 this season and they have double the amount of sacks of their opponents. (Their offense creates this)
Clemson’s team stats indicate they are getting right at 500 ypg on offense and giving up right at 300. But they only have 6 touchdowns through the air this season, 4 by Allen, and one each Chalk and Ajou. Their game is on the ground and I’m not sure if they can score fast enough if they get behind. They are 18 of 23 on field goals but only 8 interceptions this year. Alabama will throw to everyone including the running backs in particular. Clemson was rated 44th in total defense in the country while UAB was 11th.
If Alabama gets out early, it will be hard for Clemson to catch up unless the Tide put the team on cruise control like they did against Florida in the third quarter trying to run clock. If Clemson gets out early, I’m not sure they can hold off UAB’s offense if by the numbers alone.
Can Clemson win? Not on paper. It would be more of an upset than the media is trying to sell. The only outside factor that could cause a difference is injuries or c-19. Have to wait and see.

What is c-19?
Mac Jones (QB), Najee Harris (RB)and Devonta Smith (WR) all set team (Alabama) or NCAA records against Florida in the SEC championship game Saturday. All three are in the top 4 in the Heisman Trophy race.
"In one of the craziest, uneven, and difficult-to-judge Heisman Trophy races in history, which player should take home the prestigious award? 1. DeVonta Smith | Alabama WR | Senior | Last week: 1
As the arguable favorite heading into conference championship weekend, DeVonta Smith only helped his Heisman candidacy by racking up 15 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns in Alabama’s win over Florida. Smith has had highlight-reel plays all season, and he’s been legitimately uncoverable. The senior receiver—who easily could have left for the NFL after last season yet stayed in school and got even better—is the Heisman Trophy pick.
That would probably be the fairest way to run the playoffs.
“What is c-19?”
The flu, covid 19. If it is detected, the players infected most likely will be placed in quarantine and unable to play. It’s the same as an injury. Outside factors also include weather, natural disasters, and crime in the area of the game (fires and traffic). All safety factors.
