I have used CHM and other health sharing packages and recommend them often. But I do not perceive it as being as effective once one has has a major health event.
We will debate whether the US government should be using general tax funds to pay insurance companies directly, for a personal expense that falls back on the individual taxpayer.
I suspect that most on Free Republic are in agreement as to 95% of of the debate regarding forcing all citizens to pay for corporate welfare of insurance companies, no matter how many (or few) are helped in health issues.
Until Trump's election, the VA hospital system was mostly useless; even now it is better than nothing and often even decent.
I do not trust the college kiddies that make up the leftists that will swarm into power if Harris takes over. No respect for anyone that does not agree with them, and no desire to reconcile.
You’re accurate. However, not working seems to have become OK.
When my husband signed up for service, he was told her have healthcare if needed for life. We recently found out that was a big lie. I have been told if you keep reapplying eventually they will give you care.
Your dad is probably in group 7 or 8. That is the group I am in. After Obamacare was passed VA asset testing was discontinued. However, eligibility is based on regional income. See the below link

Ah yes, the annual frenzy of insanity to access the overpriced and nearly useless “insurance” that costs me $24,000 a year and another $17,000 a year to access the first dollar of benefit for the family of TWO.
What fool ever thought it was rational to think the entire nation would be able to successfully do this annual fire drill within a two month period?
If you lack faith or trust in a system that is faithless and untrustworthy as I do it is far from automatic. Verification is necessary. Blue Cross manages to some how screw up a simple roll-over each year requiring me to call for correction, confirmation and verification each time taking at least an hour on the phone.
How do they screw up? Let me count the ways, they seem to be an endless and infinite combination of errors that the employees only repeat the script for. They can’t help it, they just work there. I tell them at the end of each conversation that they have a crap job, a sorry employer and that I feel sorry for them and all the rest of us.
Between 2000 and 2012 coverage cost varied between $4,500 and $10,000 with never more than a $5,000 deductible. Then came the “affordable care act and the cost shot up to $13,300 plus a $6,000 deductible. By 2016 there was a 39% annual increase in cost with reduced benefits.
Why bother to complain? Just another thing we have to deal with that we have no good option for or say in that matters.
Welcome to amerika comrades.
BTW, the 55% that like this crap are not paying for it or much else for that matter.
We owe no bills but property tax, utilities, cable, zip line for computer, pest control, that is a necessity, we have a farm field behind us. Paid off all the big stuff. Don’t travel far. Last 1 was his trip to his 91 yr old brother’s Memorial up near Niagara Falls.
File short form, lucky to get a few hundred back. They tax SS and Pensions, the money from his small IRA, will have to add mine in 2021.
Pre-paid funerals, everything of importance tied up in Trust Funds. No probate, no kids ex’s demanding a share.
