Sometimes it’s too easy and tempting to reveal what we are thinking but not always is it prudent. When I was a police officer I always thanked people when they threatened my life. I was not only forewarned but it provided me with a historical partial justification if I ended up having to shoot them. Like Vito Corleone wisely advised Santino “Never tell anyone outside of the family what you’re thinking.”
Exactly right...don’t put yourself on equal legal standing with a threat...I used to just look in their eyes...only once did I ever say anything cause the bastard kept threatening me in front of our attorneys...i finally just said “I accept the risk”.
