Exactly how did burning small family farms, burning their fields, and killing the livestock (or taking it) of civilians who had no part in slavery or were any threat to the war serve any legitimate war purpose.

I guess in your mind it was okay to lock up and burn around 6,000,000 jews in Germany or kill and massacre thousands of Albanians in the Balkan wars.

Sherman didn't round up hundreds of thousands of Southerners and have them shipped off to be killed. You're a moral relativist and you're drawing , or trying to draw two entirely different outcomes into war. Hitler exploited the conquered peoples of Europe and their natural resources to the benefit of the Third Reich. Those who didn't fit into the Ayran playbook went to the gas.
