Thanks for this thread. There are some very interesting comments herein. I look forward to seeing follow up as things progress or regress, ...things might go in a general direction towards the final outcome, but the actual path usually is not linear, nor the exact outcome certain.

New York Times op-ed columnist David Brooks ignited a wave of backlash after insulting rural Americans who have no contact with the “expert class.”

“Look at how much more Republicans are affected by conspiracy theories than the Democrats, so it can’t just be the internet, there must be some demand,” Brooks said, pointing out the “two core problems.”
“A lot of people in the expert class live in blue cities who are thriving,” he claimed. “And a lot of people left behind in the rural parts of America, they feel threatened economically, culturally, socially and they have no contact with the expert class.”
He went on to contend that “those of us in the expert class – journalism and academia – have to do a better job of reaching out in post-Trump, establishing relationships and showing some respect,” he said.
Brooks added that there also has to be economic policies “so people don’t feel threatened,” suggesting that the way to “cure distress” is by “keeping promises to people who are unlike yourself.”

It has already gotten ugly my friend. Watch the people waving Trump banners and flags in South Florida videos on you tube. Observe people in cars stopping to spit on them and assault them for no reason. The Left hates us and will kill us as soon as they are able. The Left sees nothing wrong in killing us and will do it as soon as they are given the opportunity. There are those, on this board in fact, who sincerely believe that they can co-exists with the Left.
I don’t fear them as you do. Killing them is going to be necessary.
Who said I fear them? I understand how they operate. I been saying that for years.
This isn’t anything new. Right out of the playbook:
RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.”
RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”
RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational.
RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.”
RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.”
RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.”
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
These are all right out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook. And they have been using them for about 50 years.

We might take solace in that, but better we share that concern with the ones spitting in God's face, regardless of the reaction, like the author of the passage posted now on freerepublic.com..
