Yeah, an open port would be a big deal. It would be more difficult to detect due to the use of the cellular modem. No network connection like this gadget https://www.sensaphone.com/products/sensaphone-sentinel-monitoring-system-with-cellular-modem makes it a lot more difficult to monitor any connections. It would probably have to be done by the cellular network provider.
