I was in a store today, and I was standing on one of those obnoxious little six feet away markers. The woman in line ahead of me whirled around and yelled that I was too close. The clerk told her that I was not too close and the woman kept insisting I was and that I had to get further away...I thought she was about to hit me. I quickly changed lanes. On my way out, the clerk exclaimed, “Did you see that? I can’t believe I saw that!”
You should have hip checked her onto the conveyor belt and signaled the cashier to glide her toward the exit.
“...yelled that I was too close.”
Yelled? That is worse than being a few inches too close, according to the received hysteria. You should have told her you would call the police.
That’s weird, I am in Florida and no one here is freaked out about it enough to confront people, not even people at higher risk.
I would have slapped her.
