This is the student newspaper’s analysis that was pulled down and not the actual John’s Hopkins report. The actual John’s Hopkins study remains as issued.
The JHN article was pulled down on Thursday without explanation. The student newspaper on Friday wrote on Twitter that the article was “being used to support false and dangerous inaccuracies” about the impact of the pandemic, and that they “regret that this article may have contributed to the spread of misinformation about COVID-19.”

Briand stands by her analysis. You should have figured out that the vast majority of the article you posted is not in “quotes” of Briand and was rather the analysis of some JH student with an agenda.
CAGW damaged science to the point where the nonsense that has been going on with Covid could happen.

Our son gave us a heads-up about this development in the last 3 hours.
I just thought to myself, “Well G## D###. The fraud is proven -Again.”
It’s because the author conflated the quantity of deaths with the age-distribution of deaths. They went looking for a spike in the deaths of the elderly - likely due to having read the “it only kills old and sick people” trope too many times without thinking about the fact that most everything only kills old and sick people - and didn’t find one. They apparently assumed that meant that CCP-19 hadn’t killed anybody, rather than understanding that there would be no change in the distribution because the CCP-19 deaths are distributed by age the same way almost everything else is.
The things to look for are not who died, but how they died, and how that affects overall life expectancy. Fewer people will die from some things and more people will die from other things. The questions become whether there was a greater or smaller net loss of life, and how much has life expectancy decreased as a result.
In the 15th century, that was known as "heresy."

Only 6% of the 200,000+ Covid19-counted deaths had NO co-morbidities documented on the death certificate, but individual medical record review would be necessary before I would trust any of these numbers. Going with the 6%, that amounts to 12-15,000 deaths out of nearly 3 million deaths in America each year. The other 94% had at least 2-3 serious health problems, respiratory, cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer and on it goes. No diagnostic proof was or is required to presume Covid19 as “present” or causal at time of death.
We have known that 6% estimate for several weeks as reported by myself and others here on FR. CDC clearly states that fact in its weekly mortality report. That 6% could have been killed on the ventilator or died in the nursing home after being denied “non-essential” medical care.
The higher than expected deaths reported in April and May was a PLANNED culling of old and frail people in key “hot spots” to scare the sheeeet out of everyone. It was designed for you to voluntarily give up everything out of fear — your freedom, your common sense, your way of life. The CDC classified all deaths that are related to COVID-19 simply as COVID-19 deaths. Even patients dying from other underlying diseases but are infected with COVID-19 count as COVID-19 deaths. This is likely the main explanation as to why COVID-19 deaths drastically increased while deaths by all other diseases experienced a significant decrease.
No wonder they took this article down - it is in dire need of copy-editing!

My understanding is that the article speaks exactly to this issue. My understanding is that the article points out that the overall death rate (among the elderly) has not significantly increased - and that, apparently, the rise in COVID-19 deaths is completely offset by the drop in deaths due to all other causes (heart disease, etc.) - at least among the elderly.
Am I missing something here? If so, please feel free to enlighten me!

There is no news about the normal, seasonal flu this year. Does Covid-19 cure the flu? Strange times indeed...
I was ahead of the curve on this issue and have already posted a few times that total deaths in US will not increase much at all in 2020. It is not complicated.
Majority dying from covid had serious co-morbidities already meaning they were in very poor health and would soon have died anyways.
Washing hands and wearing masks has reduced flu cases. And the normal candidates for flu are catching covid first.
