have an uncle who was not CIA till he was CIA. the only reason why we know he was CIA is that my dad worked for lockheed in the 1970s. at one point my dad joked about his cousin who claimed he worked for the CIA whom no one in the family believed. five days later was called into personnel where two FBI agents told my dad to shut the fuck up he might get his cousin killed if continued. Years later My uncle explained that he had applied to the CIA but never became an agent until he started an import business and was going over seas to communist countries. suddenly over night the CIA was debriefing him when ever he returned to the states. if tucker applied and was not excepted and later they thought he would be useful they will use him.

Yeppers. The CIA goes to you. Yes, it may help if you’ve expressed interest at some point.. but it’s not like applying for a normal job. I’m sure some get hired in a normal way, but not most. That’s just my speculation.
