How do you verify public support when the measuring tool is corrupted?
“How do you verify public support when the measuring tool is corrupted?“
You’re right - you can’t verify public support if the election is corrupt.
I’m just saying that the courts’ strong preference will be to trust the election unless there is a strong challenge to its trustworthiness. That challenge could come in two different forms. 1) Ironclad forensic proof that the election was stolen. 2) The vast majority of the people believe (for whatever reason) that the election was stolen.
If the election was rigged, AND most people believe it was rigged - then obviously the courts would likely overturn the election.
But, hypothetically, what if the SC justices themselves knew the election was in fact rigged, but nobody in the general public believed it was rigged? I don’t know, but I would guess the courts would not intervene. I mean, if the people trust the election - then you must let the election stand.
I think it’s sort of like a judge and a jury. The SC justices are the judge and the voting public are the jury.
In a jury trial, if the jury finds the accused innocent - that’s the verdict - no matter what the judge’s personal opinion.
I would guess a similar effect here - if enough of the public is convinced the election was stolen - then President Trump will get a second term. If not enough of the public is convinced it was stolen - Kamala Harris will be President.
The public will serve as a kind of jury - and the courts will make sure the public is happy.
That’s why the Left is fighting so hard to establish the narrative that it’s already settled -that Biden is President Elect.
That is why it is so important for President Trump and his lawyers and supporters to push back against that narrative - and express confidence that they will prevail.
If the general public - even among Trump supporters - ever becomes convinced that Trump has lost and is simply being a sore loser - then it will indeed be over.
