WE the voters have GIVEN the media this POWER to call elections BEFORE votes counted and certified.
I remember Rush saying that Reagan got either ELECTED I believe in part to the media calling it for him BEFORE polls closed on the LEFT COAST.
The media has set themselves UP as the PROTECTORS of the 1st Amendment..but they will GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to NOT allow conservative to have theirs. It has become apparent since 2000 when GORE was VAULTED as POTUS ELECT, that the media considers themselves the keepers of all things BALANCED, with their finger on the LEFT side of the balance.
I am not saying the conservative media would be anymore fair, I mean when you are hoisted upon the shoulders of your viewers as their NEW champions, it's got to have a REAL impact on how you do report news.
But sadly in todays highly charged society, most don't have time to "research" the truth. Instead they have 10 or 15 min at night to watch the local/national news maybe hoping that what they hear or see will be fair.
The length of a TWEET is 280 characters. For some that is just how far their attention held. After that it's just noise.
Sites like FREEREPUBLIC are needed so that we can stay an INFORMED society. It isn't perfect but neither is anything man-made. But at least we can SEE news items for ourselves and decide whether to read or move on.

The Electronic oligarchs of Silicon Valley should be included in the Fourth Estate.
Because they silence and censor the voice of the people during these troubling times.
There needs to be a penalty imposed !
