That’ll be too late from what DeSantis said.

I honestly think the defectors on both sides will be relatively equally and the non partisan will split fairly evenly. It will come down to turnout. This is the most partisan election of my lifetime. If R’s turn out (which it looks like they are) We will win!

Our voting system is a mess and a disgrace. We promote democracy around the world but can’t even manage to ensure integrity, consistency, security and timely results in our own elections.

“...Our voting system is a mess and a disgrace. We promote democracy around the world but can’t even manage to ensure integrity, consistency, security and timely results in our own elections....”

Yep. In this technical/digital day and age, there is absolutely no excuse for any of it...other than voter fraud.
Even many of the “purple finger” 3rd world countries do it better.

I disagree. While some Repubs may crossover they will be vastly outnumbered by Dems who don’t like the radicalization of their party and are uninspired by Biden, who cannot seem to generate any enthusiasm. Many of them will vote for Trump and/or simply not vote at all. JMHO

PUSH for Term Limits too.

I’m only up for Term Limits if it includes Government programs and bureaucrats also. Otherwise, it just hands more power to the permanent government bureaucracy and deep state. Just look at people like John Brennan or James Comey. Did they ever stand for election? Were they ever in danger of having their funding cut? Has the public ever once evaluated their performance? And yet, they became so powerful, they nearly succeeded with a planned coup of the Presidency.

Term limits for the people’s elected officials, as bad as they may be, are not the answer.

We *instituted* the purple finger in Iraq! The idea that there are so many holes in our system of voting is nuts.

I disagree..... Bush vs Kerry was the most partisan election... Equal amount of enthusiasm for both candidates... The War on Terror unleashed the ghosts of America’s Vietnam syndrome.... Country was very divided over war inspired patriotism

2020 is love Trump vs hate Trump....Biden is invisible.....Russia, Russia, Russia narrative is totally at odds with traditional Liberal worldview...Bushies don’t like Trump..... This election is a lot of things, but partisan is not the word that I would use by any means

I generally don’t like commissions but there are widespread concerns over the integrity of our voting system that need to be looked at in a systematic way. If Trump wins he could be in a position to appoint some bi-partisan group to conduct a much needed review and/or present some recommendations to improve the process. Its long overdue IMO.

I am hoping for a Trump blowout, but the top trade guru analysis makes a questionable assumption of 3 to 1 GOP votes on ED. Is there empirical basis for that?

You’re correct, despite electing 4 Republican Voters in a row, the registered Democrats in Florida outnumber Republicans.....and until this year by a significant margin, something like 300k.

If Democrats did not crossover in larger numbers Florida would be another version of NY.....

Rasmussen has Trump down to 49% approval from 52% yesterday. Crap.

The idea that there are so many holes in our system of voting is nuts.

************

It can be fixed. Allowing it to get worse cycle after cycle is crazy and invites massive fraud.

We always wait until things collapse before we start to do anything about it.

I meant to say 4 Republican Governors in a row...and the previous 3 were two term Governors...DeSantis will be up for reelection in two years..

The Republicans have a super majority in the State Legislature and only one Democrat holds a statewide office....

Plenty of Democrats vote Republican in Florida otherwise this would not be happening..

Wife and I just voted here in North Florida. Walked in and went right through. About a 10-12 minutes we were done.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE MEDIA MYTH OF LONG LINES EVERYWHERE.

Current election day vote is 51% R, 24% D, 23% I. 259K R, 122K D, 115K I. I would assume independent vote on election date skews heavily Trump, as the dem leaning independents probably voted early.
