I wonder if Hunter has been talking to the big guy or uncle Jim. Hunter has to be feeling awful anxious and uncertain. Each day that passes he hopes all his legal problems go away, but even if things do get quiet it will always be in the back of his head. I bet he'll never want to be seen in public knowing a huge part of the country knows who he is and what he had done. He'll imagine people talking behind his back the rest of his life.
Maybe life in prison is better than that.

Perhaps (?) Off-topic, but there is so much Truth in the line “Lord help me, can’t change.” Most of us (yes, including Hunter) are so heavily defined by our roles and habits that it is virtually impossible to break free of those chains without God’s help.
