It's a great question. Especially since I saw an interview with Rudy, just released today, where he said that he only found ANY of the audio recordings on the laptop just a couple of days ago.
IF true, this would dispel any myth that he had all this information already sorted, correlated, and properly prioritized for maximum effect during his controlled rollout.
Rather, it would indicate his plan was to horde the information to his select circle, to maximize his appearance of power, rather than just releasing it all in WIKILEAKS fashion, and let other competitors raffle through it, which would have diminished his role, but likely have created a larger buzz, and effect, overall. Just my thoughts, since this question isn't going away.

Do you people realize the thousand and thousands of e-mails and information these guys have had to wade through? Not to mention photos, videos, and what ever else Hunter incorporated into his lap top...and “hidden” beneath his fake fronts numerous companies and peoples he had business with and who and what these were and are.....And then somehow to connect it all together.
Rudy is a lawyer, and the former mayor of New York, and what we in the biz call "a person of a certain age".
People of this description don't "do" computers. They have people for that.
Sounds like Rudy = amateur hour. I would have assumed he would have had someone with extensive IT/Mac/forensics knowledge examining the Macbook. And the NYP? NYT would have had computer forensics experts go over the laptop on day 1. And you know the FBI knows every file on the hard drive. It's not just what is on the drive, but recovering files that have been deleted, and any forensics expert would be all over that.
