CONFLICT OF INTEREST? ABC’s Good Morning America Avid Editor Is a Biden Donor

It looks as if an Avid Editor for ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) news show may have violated company policy and engaged in a serious conflict of interest.

Federal Election Commission records revealed that GMA Avid Editor Cybele Policastro had donated $225 so far to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Open Secrets records also showed that Policastro gave $250 to the liberal super PAC Save America Fund September 19, 2020, which is associated with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) Democratic challenger Amy McGrath. Policastro’s role, as described on LinkedIn, involves “[e]diting feature stories and celebrity interviews for Good Morning America.” When reached for comment, ABC News told the MRC that it “prohibits employees from active participation in partisan political campaigns which includes making a contribution to a candidate or party.” This admission by ABC News appears to be damning, considering Policastro’s actions.

Yeah, surprised that someone is getting their knickers in a knot over $475 donated by a low level video editor.

Does the word “bias” mean anything to you for someone who’s job involves editing content that gets aired on GMA?

Who cares if the director is avid? Even nonchalant editors there will support Rats.

??? Disney makes a profit or not because of China. ESPN, Disney studios and Disney theme parks depend on China for profit. NBC?Universal and CBS/Viacom are in the same boat. You can’t make a profit on a large movie without a China release.

They will be “punished” by receiving a notation in their personnel file, which will be used in a few years to justify a promotion...

Avid editors are special purpose computers that create the graphics on TV. Everything from sweeps to background changes can be done with Avid.

Nice technology when created by a professional.

I worked in television for 25 years. An Avid Editor (Avid is a brand of computer software for video editing) does not make editorial decisions. They put together what the producers and reporters tell him/her to put together. They're like the "Sandwich Artists" at Subway. They make the sandwiches, but only under the direction of the customers. It doesn't really matter if they're biased against Black Olives, if the customer asks for them, they'll put them in the sandwich.

With all of the Leftists at ABC who are on-air talent, executive producers, associate producers, directors, and writers being rabidly anti-Trump, a lowly line editor doesn't make any difference. They'll take the footage they're given and put together the package they're told to put together.

I spent about 10 years in TV production land.

The AVIDs that showed up in my last years there were for a few elite producer/directors and an editor first and foremost.

All the lesser nobodies had to book late night and weekends if they could get in at all.

Mere working serfs were forbidden to even go into the suites for a while. Never mind me and a few others knew way more about computers and software than the elite.

I don’t miss the super duper CMX edit system or that Abekas A34.

The file based editors that showed up in our TV station were Media 100s.

Once we had four Media 100 Suites set up, nobody touched the 1" A-B roll suite ever again. CMX edit controller, Grass Valley 100 switcher, Ampex ADO, and an I-can't-remember-the-brand-but-it-wasn't-Chyron character generator.

I remember the Chyron all too well.

Just about all the front line switchers were Abekas. There were some Grass Valleys (I think) in some of the distance learning rooms.

CMX seemed more like 8 hours of solitary confinement in a cold electronics room with the constant hum of the ventilation.
