Although I have to give People’s Pundit some credit for asking those questions, the missing piece here is the share of voters who won’t take part in a poll under any circumstances.
I suspect it’s large and growing. But how large?
At any rate, I won’t cooperate with the media in any way whatsoever — and that’s coming from an old retired reporter/editor.
When I started my newspaper career in the 1980s, fresh out the Army, I worked for liberal editors who knew I was a conservative but were cool with it, considering I wrote well, made my deadlines, and didn’t screw up my facts.
I always thought that the main qualification for a reporter/editor was respect for facts. Today’s journalists wouldn’t know a fact if they tripped over it.
I live in Oklahoma. No one I know has ever been polled.
