It seems that’s exactly what happened — Joe turned a blind eye as his granddaughter was a subject of possible incest within his family. If not actual incest, then definitely the target of inappropriate sexual situations with Hunter.
But, hey. Joe has his priorities. Could a 14-year-old girl be an operative in his criminal enterprise, and kick back 50% of the loot? Nope. Hunter was more valuable to Joe’s bottom line, real estate acquisitions, etc.
Kick the kid to the curb and ignore the nasty sh!t and abuse going on within your own family.

Child endangerment, a/k/a endangering the welfare of a child, can include anything from inappropriate touching to facilitating underage drinking to smoking crack in the presence of a minor. Its one of these crimes that covers a lot of territory.

Sure, it might, but it’s not usually used to describe that, because there are other more specific and serious crimes that cover that. Saying you are investigating someone for “child endangerment” when it’s about sexual assault would be like saying you are investigating someone for “reckless driving” when you’re really investigating them for vehicular homicide.

If you're going to commit a sex crime, make it so incredibly outrageous that no one can ever be allowed to see the evidence. That way, your crime be remain "unverified" in the eyes of the media.
